Olaf Kranse from the Plant-Parasite Interactions Group has been awarded a prestigious King’s College Research Associate position. Starting in October 2024, he will lead an interdisciplinary project aimed at building open-source tools to monitor the effects of the climate on the King’s College meadow over time.
A key aspect of the project is to teach students about the hardware and software available and how these tools can be effectively utilised in research. Olaf plans to bring together Kings College students from diverse fields, including biology, computer science, and engineering, to collaborate on this innovative project.
The data generated will be used as a public engagement resource for people visiting the meadow, and the tools developed will be open-source and could be used to study meadows anywhere.
The King’s College Research Associate positions are designed to support initiatives that contribute to the College’s educational program.
