The Department of Plant Sciences is delighted to announce that Sebastian Eves-van den Akker has been appointed as Professor of Biotic Interactions from 1 October 2024.
In parallel, Christine Miller has also been appointed as a Professor of Biotic Interactions in the Department of Zoology. Together these two co-ordinated appointments are designed to further strengthen the success of the interdepartmental Organisms, Evolution and Planetary Resilience research theme in the School of Biological Sciences.
Sebastian Eves-van den Akker is head of the Plant-Parasite Interactions group at the Crop Science Centre. His work combines genomics and molecular biology to understand the two-way molecular communication between plants and their parasites.
Julian Hibberd, head of the Department of Plant Sciences said “I am delighted that Sebastian has been offered and accepted this post. It is recognition of his commitment and contribution to our department in terms of teaching and administration, as well as his research track-record and plans for the future.
