Figueroa M, Coaker G, Kanyuka K - Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2024
Microbial effectors are central to determining the complex and dynamic interaction between plants and microbes. Whether those interactions result in the establishment of a positive or a negative outcome, effectors are at the interface of any plant–microbe encounter. This MPMI focus issue explores some of the most intriguing topics in effector biology ranging from tools and approaches to predict and identify effectors to addressing effector diversity, targets of effectors in their host plants, and the complex roles that effectors fulfill to determine outcomes of diverse plant–microbe interactions such as disease, disease resistance, or a mutually beneficial (symbiotic) interaction.
