Emily Servante
Postdoctoral research associate
Research group: Cereal symbiosis
Biography
Emily is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Cereal Symbiosis group at the Crop Science Centre. She completed her PhD at University of Cambridge, where she worked in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines to investigate the molecular genetics of diversity in arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis in indica rice. Her research now focuses further on considering the potential for the beneficial symbiosis as a biofertilizer in sustainable, water-saving rice cultivation. She collaborates with IRRI, Philippines and West African Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), Ghana to conduct field trials evaluating the efficacy of native and applied inoculum in diverse and local host genotypes.
