Judith C. Mbamalu

Biography

Judith is an MPhil student with Lida Derevnina's lab. Her research is focused on investigating how a Phythopthora infestans effector suppresses core nodes of the plant immune system to promote virulence.
Judith has a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. Following her undergraduate studies, she gained valuable research experience as a research assistant at the Molecular Research Foundation for Students and Scientists in Nigeria, working on antimicrobial resistance in bacteria and genetic diversity in the malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum.
